DOT to repair sinkhole at University and Avenida after Mesilla trustees describe 5-foot collapse

The mayor explained the cause was damage to a stormwater dispersal pipe and a lift station pump that was hit during a utilities boring operation; DOT crews were on site and the town expects DOT to replace the pump and repair the line. When asked "Who's gonna pay for it?" the mayor responded that DOT would cover the repair. The mayor asked residents to report related erosion and flooding concerns so the town can follow up, and described steps the public works team will take to maintain park infrastructure and install a new fountain on the plaza.
