The commission approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cedar Highlands Homeowners Association to house a seasonal wildland fire truck on HOA‑donated land. Emergency management staff said the structure will be a roughly 30 by 40‑foot carport with partial sides and an eventual option to fully enclose. The county will supply the structure site using PC funds and Cedar City will provide the truck; the unit will be staged at the site for roughly three to four months each summer to reduce response time for the Cedar Highlands area.
Cassie Meredith, Iron County Emergency Management, described logistics including a planned solar battery system to keep vehicle batteries charged. The MOU includes provisions that, if the agreement dissolves, assets either revert to the HOA or the county will restore the site; the document also covers signatures by the HOA president and county representatives. Commissioners approved the agreement and asked staff to finalize signature copies.
