Heritage Pines board awards $19,200 pond-algae contract to Premier Lakes, ends SOLitude services

District Manager Chuck Adams presented a proposal from Premier Lakes, Inc. to provide pond algae treatment for Heritage Pines, saying the new contract reduces costs by about $3,200 per year compared with the existing SOLitude contract.
Adams said the Premier Lakes proposal totals $19,200 and, if approved, he would initiate SOLitude's 30-day termination so Premier Lakes could commence service on Dec. 1, 2024. Resident Susan Napolitano asked what chemical SOLitude sprays into the lakes; Adams said a "copper-based product is used to target algae" and that any odor is from degassing as treated algae releases gases for a couple of days.
The Board approved the Premier Lakes proposal on a motion by Supervisor Michael Walsh, seconded by Supervisor Carol Vaughan, "with all in favor." Adams said he would notify SOLitude and effect the contract transition per the termination clause.
