Committee OKs SEQRA lead finding and $50,000 for Goshen Emergency Services garage design

Chairman Barry J. Cheney convened the Physical Services Committee, and Legislator Peter V. Tuohy moved that the Legislature assume lead agency under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) for the design and construction of a new Emergency Services garage in the Town of Goshen. The motion classified the action as Unlisted and included a Negative Declaration determining there would be no significant adverse environmental impacts; the motion was seconded by Legislator Matthew Turnbull and carried.
Legislator Matthew Turnbull then moved for a $50,000 supplemental appropriation (bonding) to fund the engineering and design phase for the garage as Project No. 30 of the 2026 Capital Plan; Legislator Virginia Scott seconded the motion and it passed. DPW Deputy Commissioner Vini Tankasili described the planned structure as "56 feet by 96 feet with three bays" and said engineering and design services are packaged and procured through competitive bids with DPW staff coordinating and administering the process.
The committee recorded the appropriation to create the capital project for the design phase. No environmental mitigation measures were required under the Negative Declaration, and the committee moved on to other capital items.
