"The cost is, $3,186,000," Speaker 8 said, outlining the scope: lowering and deflating the existing structure, removing lights and steel cabling, installing a new insulated double-wall fabric system, new track and floor materials, new line striping and replacement of damaged exit doors. The package also includes a groundwater cut intended to reduce water intrusion from the local water table.
Speaker 8 said the district expects the work to be completed before the start of the next season but acknowledged early-term school gym schedules will be affected: "It will infringe upon the 1st month, month and 0.5 of school to where they'll have to hold most of their gym classes in the existing gym." The board was told bids were vetted and a recommendation to award to the contractor was forthcoming.
