During the public comment period, long-time resident Carolyn Cass Barton warned that Oak Park faces significant evacuation challenges and announced a peaceful protest/rally organized by PRISMM at Agoura Road and Kanan Road. “Oak Park faces significant evacuation challenges and expressed concern that it is among the worst areas in the state for evacuation,” Cass Barton said and encouraged community involvement in preparedness discussions.
Other speakers included Tom Hansen, who described his reporting practices for the Acorn and how he gathers quotes; Steven Kozel, who invited the public to an Oak Park Community Garden Open House on May 16 with a plant sale and garden tours; and Ashley Orozco, who introduced herself as a candidate for Ventura County Supervisor, District 2, and invited residents to a meet-and-greet. The MAC received these comments during the designated public-comment portion of the agenda.
