Rancho Simi Rec & Park District updates: events, staffing, Medea Creek clearing paused for nesting

Eric Lundstrom, board member for Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District (RSRPD District 5), updated the MAC on recent district activity and upcoming events. He said the district recognized a young lifeguard for lifesaving actions, has completed recruitment for a new District Manager, has engaged a facilitator for a governance-focused board retreat, and will hold a Budget Priorities meeting on May 20 to discuss funding and transparency.
Lundstrom also described operational constraints on vegetation clearing in Medea Creek: work is currently paused due to nesting birds and is expected to resume between August and February following nesting season. He announced community events including an outdoor movie night at Oak Park Community Park on June 19 and “Music in the Park” on July 11.
