The commission approved an addendum to the Mammoth Sports contract that expands the scope of recent turf work to additional playing fields and associated site improvements. The addendum covers turf stabilization, outfield fencing and other base contract items; numerous alternates (video boards, additional bleachers, shade structures) were presented as donor‑funded options.
Project representatives reviewed renderings and explained that some fields will have brown infields (softball) while showcase baseball fields will use a green infield. Commissioners asked technical questions about stabilization testing, drainage plans and whether the stabilization allowance would cover unanticipated subsurface issues; the contractor said preliminary tests have been done and a geo‑technical analysis will be performed and that some fields are expected to require more stabilization.
Staff and donors indicated a target start date of Aug. 1 for moving dirt and initial site work. A motion to approve the addendum passed by voice vote; the commission noted that several alternates depend on fundraising and are not part of the base addendum.
