RSD17 reports summer curriculum work across subjects; AI guidelines added to handbooks

Curriculum Coordinators Jennifer Beermuender and Heather Rigatti provided an overview of summer curriculum work intended to increase college- and career-readiness. They listed multiple subject-specific projects including vocabulary development across ELA, math and science; revised Grade 4–5 social studies units; vertically aligned K–8 art curriculum; algebra and geometry tasks aligned to SAT preparation; band and general music progression; middle school world-language assessments; and enhanced high school physical-education curriculum.
The coordinators also said the district rolled out AI guidelines: "Included in school handbooks for students and families; included in employee handbook, shared at staff meetings; shared with community in Superintendent Weekly Update." The K–8 math core resource review process is underway and will inform the 2026–27 budget recommendation.
