Committee to seek cost estimate and site analysis for downtown dedications to Joe Jesus and the Paliologos family
Summary
Councilors proposed downtown dedications for Joe Jesus and for Philip C. and Celeste Paliologos; Department of Public Infrastructure advised a traffic-signal-mounted green-and-white street sign or a small standalone marker are feasible options, and the committee asked DPI to provide cost and map information and tabled the items for 30 days.

Councilors brought two downtown dedication requests before the committee: one to find a suitable location honoring Joe Jesus for his long-running community events and another to place a plaque for Philip C. and Celeste Paliologos at the corner of Shawmut Avenue and Hathaway Road (or another suitable site). The administration, through Janet Barbosa, said it supports both dedications.
Jamie from the Department of Public Infrastructure advised the committee that installing a green-and-white street sign on a traffic signal would generally be the simplest option, though the size and exact location depend on property ownership and site constraints. The committee asked DPI to print maps showing city-owned slivers of land and to provide a cost estimate for a signal-mounted sign. Several members raised concerns about precedent and the potential volume of similar requests; one councilor asked that cost estimates be provided before advancing the matter. The committee removed items 8 and 9 from the table and then voted to table them pending a DPI cost estimate and map review, with the expectation of returning in 30 days.
