Councilor Gomes presented a motion asking the committee to consider establishing a monument on a parcel donated by the Pimentel family at Clark's Point (Map 10 Lot 108) to honor the late Cal Pimentel. Kurt Pimentel, speaking for the family, said he planned to donate a granite stone, have it engraved and place maritime anchors to mark the site.
Members noted the city solicitor's office had not completed necessary paperwork to accept the land and suggested sending a communication to the solicitor for status. Janet Barbosa from the mayor’s office agreed to follow up. Given the outstanding transfer issues, the committee voted to table the item for 30 days so staff could provide an update from the solicitor’s office before the committee takes further action.
Next steps: Mayor’s office will follow up with the solicitor; committee staff will notify the Pimentel family when transfer status is confirmed so final plans can be coordinated.
