District reports multiple facilities and security updates: door fobs, basement remediation, White Barn preservation, vape detectors and ballistic-window quotes

Director of Finance and Operations Karen Asetta reported that new district door fobs have been completed at a cost of $7,280. She also said the Whitehouse basement remediation has been completed and the next step is repairing ceiling leaks.
The White Barn remains fenced for safety. According to the minutes, the State of Connecticut has indicated that because of the historical makeup of the roof the barn should not be demolished and that grants may exist that would make restoration costs comparable to demolition; the State will send an inspector to make a final determination. Separately, Superintendent Smith told the committee vape-detector installation is in progress but requires new wiring with an estimated installation cost of $13,000 (final quote pending). The district is also waiting on final quotes to install ballistic window film at BES, KES and HKIMS.
