The Tisbury Finance and Advisory Committee voted 7–2 on Jan. 21 to recommend $150,000 in Community Preservation Act funds for a full restoration of the Little Lady fishing vessel, a long-term project serving the town’s working waterfront. Russ Hartenstine moved the recommendation and Louise Clough seconded; Allan Rogers and Ruth Konigsberg voted against the measure.
Committee members said the total restoration is expected to cost about $1,500,000 and that roughly $1,000,000 has already been fundraised, with the Chilmark CPC previously voting $150,000. Acting CPC liaison Russ Hartenstine stressed local oversight: “The CPC recommended projects, but the final authority was Town Meeting,” and noted the FinCom’s role in vetting financial impacts. The recommendation is contingent on updated regional-language being provided to the Town Clerk before Town Meeting.
