Board urges broad stakeholder involvement in superintendent search

Board members repeatedly told the audience that the superintendent search should incorporate broad stakeholder input, including local associations and unions. One board member who discussed inclusion said the district has updated board policy to include local associations on committees and listed teachers, food service workers, paraprofessionals and secretaries as groups the board wants represented.
The board president described community surveys as a tool to decide which candidate strengths to prioritize: "So when those surveys go out asking for priorities from the community, filling those surveys out because that will help guide us as far as which candidate we would be looking for," she said. Board members also suggested engaging student councils and school leadership groups to involve high schoolers in the process. The district will compile tonight's feedback with other town halls and online responses into a public report for the board to consider.
