Commissioners approved a resolution to sponsor the 16th annual Silly Science Sunday STEAM Festival in Mead Park with a $2,500 sponsorship grant and approved several ARPA‑funded addendum extensions.
A staff representative described the festival sponsorship and said the grant is a $2,500 sponsorship for the Sept. 13 event. Separately, the board approved addendum number 1 extending end dates to Sept. 30, 2026, for projects funded by the American Rescue Plan Act for the Youngstown Botanical Garden and the Mahoning County Agricultural Society at no change in amount. Staff also presented a resolution supporting the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley's application for Building Bridges and SOAR funds for fiscal year 2026 in the amount of $4,000 with no cash match.
The board approved the resolutions by motion and roll call. Commissioners and staff noted the community value of festivals and cultural activities and the role of ARPA funds in extending local programming and support.
