Council narrows Beacon Street live parking to buses to clear staging for campus school

The Newton Traffic Council unanimously approved an amendment to parking regulations on the north side of Beacon Street near Boston College’s Campus School, restricting a short live-parking zone to 'live bus parking only' from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Chair David Koses read a letter from the campus school saying the site accommodates approximately 20 accessible vans and buses and that unauthorized vehicles parking in the live zone obstruct staging and create potential safety risks during peak drop-off and pick-up windows. Jessica Puglisi, the campus school director, told the council the change "would really, help us out and help our students out in a huge way." Councilors discussed enforcement and sign wording before approving the change; the approved docket is TPR1073.
Koses said the council will wait through the 20-day appeal period, then order new signage and coordinate installation with DigSafe if there is no appeal.
