Hyannis resident warns of tree loss, traffic hazards and lax demolition rules

Roberta Mok of Greenwood Avenue in Hyannis used the committee's public-comment period to urge local officials to protect trees and wildlife corridors after recent removals near a Starbucks parcel. "I'm real concerned about the black holly berry trees that have been cut down in our village," she said, describing visits by bluebirds to her property and warning that large-scale development risks local habitat.
Mok also raised safety concerns at the Bradford's/Trader Joe's area, saying turning left there is hazardous and that traffic may worsen with new development. She asked the committee to consider tougher demolition controls to preserve reusable materials and historic features. The chair thanked Mok and directed staff to note landscaping and demolition concerns as items for future committee work.
