The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners recognized FAMPO transportation planner Takara Thomas on Aug. 3 for earning certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
Ross Howard (speaker 7) and Hank Graham (speaker 8) congratulated Thomas and noted the credential’s rarity—out of an estimated 40,000–45,000 planners nationwide only about 40% hold the AICP designation. "I take every opportunity to just dive into a subject and learn as much as I can," Thomas said, thanking her colleagues for support. County leaders said the certification strengthens the planning department’s expertise for local transportation and land-use work.
The board presented a recognition and asked Thomas to pose for photos with commissioners.
