Kramer told the board he has served as the township'fire chief and emergency management coordinator for about 4.5 years and that Sept. 11 will be his final day in that role. He urged the supervisors to "recognize the talent that already exists within the South Strabane fire department" and said internal candidates would preserve relationships and continuity. He also noted operational items tied to his departure, including recommending the township discontinue a paid Code Red alert contract and move residents to the Washington County'provided Regroup service to save the township money and retain alert capability. The board subsequently voted to authorize advertising for a new fire chief and to begin the interim appointment process.
