Council hears quarterly update on Victoria's 2025–2027 strategic plan; staff reports 57 actions completed

Assistant City Manager Alyssa Nelson presented the council with the quarterly progress report on the City of Victoria's adopted 2025–2027 strategic plan, which staff said contains 198 strategic actions to be completed by the end of 2027. Nelson told the council the current status is 57 completed, 91 on track, 40 not started and 10 lagging.

Nelson highlighted recent transportation work and civic engagement programs. “We wanted to highlight … the completion of the County Road 11 North improvements and with that the Highway 5, County Road 11, roundabout project that was completed this last quarter,” she said. Nelson also spotlighted the Victoria Academy citizen program, noting that the city’s annual goal is eight participants and “this year, we had 15 graduates.” The assistant city manager said the finance team also completed required budget publications promptly; “completing each of these, within of the year is actually less than 1% of all cities within The United States,” she said, describing the city's transparency efforts.

Council members praised staff for the work but asked no substantive follow-up; the presentation did not require any formal action. Nelson said the full 198-item report and the posted finance documents will be available on the city's website for residents to review.
