Renton staff say $3.4 million budget supports senior center renovation; $1.1 million remains

The city's construction presenter summarized the project budget for the Don Pearson Senior Activity Center renovation: total budget reported at about $3.4 million, with roughly $2.3 million already expended or encumbered and about $1.1 million remaining for additional costs.
"Patrick, our current project budget is showing that we have, about $3.4 in funds to support this project," Smothers said. She added that about $1.2 million of the funding was received through a HUD grant, and that the project has incurred expedited fees of roughly $100,000 to secure mechanical equipment while procurement and waiver matters are resolved.
Council members asked whether the BABA-driven delays would materially increase project cost; staff said expedited fees are known but final BABA-related charges are not yet quantified and will depend on waiver outcome and vendor responses.
