River Ridge terminates Laz's Lawn, hires GulfScapes at $58,500 amid budget gap
Summary
Citing poor performance, the board terminated the Laz's Lawn Service agreement and immediately engaged GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services at $58,500 — about $13,000 over the budgeted amount — with the board authorizing use of withheld payments and unassigned funds to cover the increase.

The board voted unanimously on Nov. 19 to terminate the landscape service agreement with Laz's Lawn Service, Inc. and to engage GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services effective immediately.
Mrs. Adams said the recommendation followed poor performance under the existing contract. GulfScapes submitted a proposal for $58,500, which the board noted is about $13,000 higher than the $45,000 budgeted amount. The board discussed options to cover the difference — including using payments withheld from Laz's Lawn and unassigned funds — and authorized management to terminate the Laz’s Lawn agreement and proceed with GulfScapes.
The board did not identify an alternative contractor that would execute the CDD contract terms, saying GreenScapes had refused to execute the district's contract. Staff will implement the change and report on transition details and cost offsets to the board.
