County to cost-share RRFB pedestrian crosswalk on CSAH 1 in Mt. Lake

Nick Klisch, Cottonwood County Public Works Director, told the board the City of Mt. Lake inquired about applying for a grant to install a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) pedestrian crosswalk on CSAH 1. Because the grant would include state and federal funds and Mt. Lake’s population is under 5,000, the project requires a county sponsor; Klisch identified a location he said would warrant the system.
The board voted unanimously to cost-participate with the City of Mt. Lake for one RRFB system on CSAH 1 (motion by Tom Appel, second by Kevin Stevens). The minutes state the City will own and maintain the system and Cottonwood County will own and maintain the sign panels on the system. The RRFB project will proceed as part of the city’s grant application process.
