County approves $2.45M for Mobile Command Vehicle replacement and garage design

The committee approved $2.4 million bonding (Project No. 31) to replace the county’s Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV). Vini Tankasili, Deputy Commissioner of Emergency Services (Fire Services), said the existing vehicle was built in 2005 and is "integrated and due for replacement," explaining it supports incident command, communications and planning for large-scale incidents including Jennings Creek and the Farmingdale bus accident.
Separately, the Legislature agreed to assume lead agency under SEQRA for an Emergency Services garage in the Town of Goshen and issued a Negative Declaration; the committee approved $50,000 (bonding) for engineering and design (Project No. 30) for a proposed 56' x 96' three-bay garage to store grant-funded equipment and protect operational readiness in severe weather. Tankasili confirmed the garage would accommodate the new Mobile Command Vehicle.
