Ogdensburg council introduces ordinance to sell multiple borough parcels; public hearing set July 28

Council members introduced Ordinance 07-2025 on July 14, a measure authorizing the sale of multiple borough-owned properties identified as Block 26.06 Lot 9, Block 26.06 Lots 6 and 8, Block 21 Lot 27 and Block 26.09 Lot 39 on the official tax maps. The ordinance was introduced and scheduled for a public hearing on July 28, 2025.
Mayor Hutnick and Borough Attorney Robert McBriar explained the process: introduction tonight, then a second reading and public hearing at a future meeting, with a later resolution to set auction dates and any minimum bid prices. Mr. McBriar said, "we have been through this process before; it was introduced this evening it will be on for a second reading, public hearing at a future meeting." The roll-call introduction vote was Yeas — Gandarinho, Lame, Ruitenberg; Nays — Cowdrick, DeMeo; Absent — Ciasullo.
Council discussion clarified that Lot 6 and Lot 8 must be sold together per tax records and that the auction notice will comply with local lands and buildings law; council reserved the right to set minimum bids by resolution later. Councilwoman Cowdrick stated she opposed selling the first aid squad building. The ordinance now proceeds to public notice and a July 28 hearing.
