Terry Counley was sworn in as village president of McCullom Lake at the board meeting on May 27, 2025, and asked trustees and attendees to treat one another with respect.
"Everybody that’s at especially this table and a couple people sitting in the audience has earned the right to get respect from each other," Counley said after taking the oath. He told the board he wants to preserve an informal tone but to ensure respectful address among trustees and staff, and said he is comfortable with current committee chairs remaining in place.
Counley said longstanding boundary agreements that previously limited expansion are no longer in effect and described an intent to evaluate annexation opportunities: "There aren’t any boundary agreements with anybody so we can do whatever we want," he said. He identified areas of interest including land near McCullom Lake, parcels south into the Polish Camp and unincorporated industrial parcels west of Ringwood Road.
He asked staff to schedule a committee-of-the-whole meeting before the next regular board meeting so trustees can discuss priorities and expectations; he said an appointments vote will occur at the next meeting. The board adjourned at 7:26 P.M.; the next meeting is set for June 24, 2025 at 7:00 P.M.
