T. Rettburg reported that the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services approved a Resource Waste Services permit in Epping at about one-third capacity, a result he described as a partial victory attributable to public and commission involvement.
"DES approved the permit in Epping, but at 1/3 limited capacity," Rettburg said. Commissioners asked whether emergency response planning had been shared; Rettburg said the company indicated it would comply with regulations.
Separately, the commission reviewed an email about a possible wetlands disturbance and discussed a DES webinar on upcoming wetlands-rule changes. Rettburg proposed recruiting a volunteer wetlands specialist to attend and present in October; C. Fields volunteered to be that specialist.
Members did not vote on regulatory strategy at the meeting but directed that a volunteer present a wetlands update and that the DES materials be shared with the commission.
