The board approved a Policy Consent Agenda that updated or re-adopted multiple district policies, including CFBB (Sanctioning of Parent Organizations, Booster Clubs, and Associations), CFBB-P (Administrative guideline for sanctioning), DAA (Nondiscrimination), DBCA (Standards of Performance and Conduct for Teachers), DEC-R7 (Maternity Leave regulations) and related student-health and conduct policies.
Board members voted to pull item S from the packet for separate consideration and approved the remainder with typographical corrections noted to items I, K and L. The motion to approve the Policy Consent Agenda passed 3–0 with two members absent.
The newly approved nondiscrimination policy states in part, "The Newcastle Board of Education is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in relation to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, alienage, handicap, or veteran status," language now included in district materials and notices. Conforming administrative regulations and operational guidelines were also approved so staff can implement changes across enrollment, activities and staff conduct processes.
