County told last year—enefits changes saved roughly $500,000; board approves staff recommendations

Angela White of Marsh McLennan Agency told the board there will be no changes to employees' costs or benefits this year and reviewed the plan's recent performance. "We saved roughly $500,000, with that move," White said, referring to an earlier change in pharmacy benefit management. She reported a minimal increase this year on medical coverage and said only one member is "lasered" on the plan this year compared with more in prior years.
White recommended the county opt into an international drug-sourcing program projected to save about $47,000 and described other projected savings of about $60,000 that together would be "a little over, an additional $100,000" in savings. Supervisor Banks moved to accept the recommendations; Supervisor Griffin seconded and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
