The Wellston Board of Education on Aug. 6 approved updates to the district’s student handbook and to the teacher/support staff handbook for the 2025–2026 school year, and adopted a package of OSSBA-recommended policies in mass, including dress-and-grooming rules for teachers (DJ), flag display policy (EMDB), data management (CQ) and tobacco prohibitions (CKDA).
Board minutes show motions to approve both handbooks and the policy package passed by unanimous vote. The updated student handbook records elementary and secondary calendars, attendance and graduation requirements, bus rules, discipline policies, and the district’s expectations for extracurricular eligibility. The CKDA policy reiterates a 24/7 tobacco/vapor prohibition on school property, references 21 O.S. §1247 and other state authorities, and describes discipline and cessation resources the district will promote.
