The Wellston Board of Education recognized district Students of the Month and received routine reports from school principals at the May 8 meeting.
The board presented Elementary Student of the Month Kade Carter, Middle School Student Tyson Pittman, and High School Student Alexis Fowble. Principals Greg Grimmett and Susan Wray updated the board on recent events — sports banquets, FFA conventions, senior-night activities and upcoming semester tests — and reported enrollment figures: the elementary enrollment was reported as 226 (May packet lists 227 in April), middle school about 95 and high school about 120. The elementary report also noted a $3,000 TSET grant awarded to upgrade the school walking trail and that the Waterford online learning contract is in place.
Administrators said these updates will inform planning for summer activities and staffing for the coming school year.
