Council and staff promote summer events, tax-free holiday and National Night Out

Multiple council members and staff used the workshop to highlight upcoming community events and public-service activities. Parks staff announced "Summer Cool Off" at Cedar Stone Park on Aug. 14 with food trucks and department displays.
Other announcements included the Smyrna Library's 'Walking Through History' on Aug. 1, the Depot District Barbecue Fest on Aug. 8, and the Smyrna Police National Night Out on Aug. 4 (6–8 p.m. at the police department). The vice mayor also reminded the public of the state tax-free holiday running July 31–Aug. 2, with exempt computers under $1,500 and clothing/supplies under $100 per item. The remarks closed with condolences for the family of Harold Galleon and a prompt to monitor Mapleview neighborhood concerns.
