District staff described a detailed plan for new teacher orientation and institute days ahead of the start of school.
"New teacher orientation will be August 10th, 11th, and 12th," a staff member said, inviting board members to a luncheon on the second day. Staff called the orientation a three‑day event to help new employees learn curriculum maps and resources and announced institute days for returning staff on August 17 and 18 with a district "Amazing Race" team event planned.
Staff also told the board the district will emphasize math this year, working to refine math maps and develop common formative assessments while maintaining a cyclical curriculum approach that staggers priorities across the year.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the learning format and the timeline for rolling curriculum components into future years.
