Council workshop reviews routine contracts: fence replacement, stormwater concrete contract, pest control and sewer-repair reimbursement

Staff presented routine contract authorizations for a handrail replacement on Rock Springs Road, an annual stormwater and concrete contract awarded to Rollins Excavating, a two-year pest-control contract with Wayne's Pest Control, and a proposed $62,000 reimbursement agreement with Gutierrez Plumbing for emergency sewer repair.
During the consent-agenda review, staff described multiple routine procurements and contract authorizations. Tom McGee explained terms to authorize a Premier Fence contract to replace a corroded handrail on the sidewalk along Rock Springs Road between Imperial Drive and the Colony Square Apartments entrance and recommended a three-rail tubular system to address visibility and durability concerns.
McGee also reported the annual stormwater and concrete contract went to Rollins Excavating after an evaluation of three bids. Sierra (speaker 15) presented an annual pest-control contract with Wayne's Pest Control (the only bidder) for a two-year term with extension options and said the price rose slightly but is expected to be absorbed in the current budget. Staff also described a proposed reimbursement agreement with Gutierrez Plumbing after an excavator incident on Veil Avenue that generated $62,000 in expenses for bypass pumping and repair; the company requested and staff proposed a one-year payment plan to repay the cost.
