Forest Service says East Humboldt hazardous-fuels project cleared objections; implementation to follow NEPA completion

Under an update from the U.S. Forest Service, an agency official told the commission the East Humboldt Throughby Mountains Hazardous Fuels project passed its objection period with no objections and staff were awaiting a final decision document from the contractor so the official could sign it and conclude NEPA.
The presenter described a range of treatments—including mechanical fuels work, prescribed fire, targeted grazing and seeding—covering approximately 240,000 acres once implemented. "That will conclude, you know, the NEPA process for that," the Forest Service official said of the East Humboldt project; they said the agency was preparing to move resources toward the Deer Mountain Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project next.
The Forest Service also referenced partnerships to remove fuel wood for donation to communities and ongoing work on infrastructure repairs and invasive-species treatment contracting in the district.
