Josh Gaither, who said he will be the store leader at the new location, described planned fixtures including a large packaged beer section and a separate single‑serve area. Gaither told the board employees will be TABC certified and said the store can "scan at the register, the barcode on the back" of an ID in addition to visual inspection to verify age.
Board members pressed about security at peak times because a high school sits across the street from the site. A staff/board speaker noted that Smyrna's municipal code no longer enforces a distance rule for beer sales (though distance requirements remain for packaged liquor stores). The board closed the hearing, moved to approve the off‑premise permit and voted in favor.
