South Railroad Mine placed on FAST-41; BLM says ROD targeted for Aug. 14

The BLM's Elizabeth Buentes said the South Railroad gold-and-silver mine (south of Carlin) is a FAST-41 project and the agency is continuing work on an EIS with a Record of Decision targeted for Aug. 14.
The Bureau of Land Management confirmed that the South Railroad Mine project south of Carlin is now designated as a FAST-41 federal permitting project and that staff are continuing to compile an environmental impact statement.
"So that is now a FAST 41 project," Elizabeth Buentes said. She told the commission the project was scheduled for a Record of Decision on Aug. 14 and that consultation and EIS work would continue through the summer.
The project remains in the environmental-review phase; Buentes did not provide final mitigation measures during the update and directed commissioners to BLM postings and EIS documents for detailed timelines and comment opportunities.
