Board holds executive session on excessive absences and approves credit decisions

The Sharon-Mutual Board of Education convened an executive session at 7:00 p.m. to discuss student absences in excess of 10 days and returned to open session at 7:42 p.m., when Clerk Eddie White read an executive-session compliance statement. The motion to convene was made by Neal Stephenson and seconded by Jeremy Baggett; the motion carried unanimously.
After returning to open session, the board considered and voted on actions related to the absences. "Students A,B,E were deferred. They will get credit for this semester if no more trouble. Students C and D were approved for credit," the minutes state. The action to approve/disapprove absences was made by Bill J. Clem, seconded by Daniel Lee, and passed 5-0.
