Board adopts multiple instructional policies and student handbooks for 2024–25
Summary
The Sapulpa board approved new and revised policies including the Released Time Course (Policy 223), modifications to Student Attendance (540.2), rescinded the Reading Sufficiency Act policy in favor of a new Strong Readers Act (Policy 204.4), and approved student handbooks across schools for 2024–25.
The Sapulpa Public Schools Board approved a set of policy and handbook changes on Aug. 14. The board approved Policy 223 (Released Time Course and Indemnification Agreement), voted to modify Policy 540.2 Student Attendance, rescinded Policy 204.1 Reading Sufficiency Act and approved a replacement Policy 204.4 Strong Readers Act, and approved Student Handbooks (G.1–G.7) for high school, Bartlett Academy, junior high, middle and elementary schools as well as virtual handbooks.
Motions were made and seconded for each item (see minutes); recorded votes were unanimous among members present (4–0, one absent). The board did not record extended debate in the meeting minutes; the actions will be incorporated into district policy and student materials for the 2024–25 year.
