Newcastle board calls $10.7 million bond election for Nov. 18, 2025

The Newcastle Board of Education voted Aug. 19 to call a special election on Nov. 18, 2025, to ask district voters to approve $10,700,000 in general‑obligation bonds to fund school projects.

Board members approved the resolution in a roll call vote recorded as Yea: 3, Nay: 0, Absent: 2 (motion by Ron Lock; second by Jeremy Gilbertson). The resolution sets the election date and directs the board to file the required materials with the McClain County Election Board at least 60 days before the vote.

The resolution itemizes projects and dollar amounts to be paid from the bond proceeds. The packet lists the largest allocations as $4,260,000 for improvements at Newcastle High School Racer Stadium (including new restrooms on the visitor side and new seating), $2,790,000 for a multi‑classroom addition and storm shelter at Newcastle Elementary School, $1,900,000 for track & field complex resurfacing and new seating, and $1,750,000 for land acquisition for future school facilities.
