Superintendent McGuire: Best of Books, Reindeer Run, and a 5,500-item can drive highlight semester

Superintendent Mrs. McGuire reported several school events and operational items during the Dec. 9 Whitebead Board meeting. She said students enjoyed the Best of Books visits, the school held its first dance successfully, and art classes decorated ornaments for downtown Pauls Valley businesses. Athletic teams participated in recent tournaments and the Reindeer Run generated excitement for the PTO.
McGuire reported the annual can drive had a strong outcome: "Donated over 5,500 items and Mrs. Arie’s class was the overall winner." She also outlined upcoming activities: movie trips for lower grades, a GT visit to the National Weather Center in Norman on Dec. 19, 8th-grade night and a pep assembly, the Christmas program on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m., the end of semester and parties on Dec. 20, and an all-day professional development day on Jan. 6 when the district will focus on curriculum alignment. She reminded the board that January is School Board Appreciation Month and that meetings will move to 5:30 p.m.
