Teachers present civic education, voter-registration and Veterans Day lessons at Elkhorn Valley Schools

At the Nov. 10, 2025 regular meeting of the Elkhorn Valley Schools District No. 80 Board of Education, teachers Dustin Wickizer and Wes Prater presented classroom civic-education activities to the board.
According to the presentation, high school students are studying the Constitution, the rights and responsibilities of American citizens and steps for voter registration. "High school students are learning about the constitution, rights and responsibilities of the American people and voter registration," the minutes state. Junior high students are studying the significance of Veterans Day and have completed a pre-test of the citizenship test used for naturalization; the teachers said students will take another citizenship test in the spring.
Board President T. Tegeler called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.; the board heard no public comment and adjourned at 7:20 p.m. The presentation provides the board with an update on classroom civic learning and Veteran-focused lessons being taught at Elkhorn Valley Schools.
