Heartland board adopts parental‑involvement, COPPA notice and student handbooks

At its Aug. 11 meeting the board approved Policy 1005.03 (Parental and Family Involvement), Policy 507.05 & 507.05R1 (COPPA Student Privacy Notice), and both the K‑6 and 7‑12 student handbooks for 2025‑26. Each approval passed by recorded motion and unanimous vote of members present.
The Heartland Community Schools Board unanimously approved Policy 1005.03, the district’s Parental and Family Involvement policy, at its Aug. 11 meeting. Trustees also approved Policy 507.05 and its regulation 507.05R1, the district’s COPPA student privacy notice, and finalized the K‑6 and 7‑12 student handbooks for the 2025‑26 school year.
Votes were recorded in the minutes: each of the listed policy and handbook actions passed after a motion and second and a roll‑call vote of board members present. The superintendent noted handbook availability on the district website and that printed copies will be provided on request; parents are asked to review the handbook and return the signed receipt form by Aug. 20.
