County to issue press release seeking land for joint EMS/fire facility in Ellis

Myers said the county has bond funding earmarked for a simple pre‑engineered metal building (roughly 140×90 feet) and prefers sites outside the Big Creek floodplain downtown. He said two landowners already had reached out — one offering a building and one offering land — and requested anyone with interest contact the county by the end of June.
Myers emphasized the goal is a practical, cost‑effective facility and not a large custom “Taj Mahal” structure; alternates such as adding bays for the city of Ellis or a mezzanine for storage would be considered as options depending on site size and costs. The commission did not take formal action at the meeting and said it would consider options as responses come in.
