Council hears water-plant update after tank overflow during storm

Town staff told the council that engineers have almost finished hydraulic checks on the water-plant application and that the town will submit the project for bids once reviews are complete.
Staff also described a recent overflow event at a town water tank during a heavy storm: "when we have a storm... at about 28 feet, it's supposed to kick off... and then at 28 and 23 feet, the pump will tell it to fill back up to 28 and vice versa," the staff member said. He explained that the mechanism apparently defaulted incorrectly and the tank overflowed until the level dropped below the setpoint.
Multiple contractors have inspected the tank and taken paint samples; staff said retrofitting or combining that tank with the orange water tanks may be possible but likely costly. Council asked staff to continue contacting vendors and to report back with cost estimates and timeline options.
