Town outlines sidewalk, pickleball and electrical work for downtown revitalization

Staff outlined a multi-part downtown revitalization plan that includes a primary sidewalk from the Parkway fence to the market site, adjacent sidewalks to the splash pad, bathrooms and playground, and a gazebo area with ADA requirements.
"The main sidewalk... is going to go from fence... straight to the market site," the staff member said, adding that ADA compliance will require 4 feet of concrete around the flagpole and gazebo. Staff also reported plans to install electricity at the farmer's market area and the pickleball court and to place a separate meter for the pickleball site so its power usage can be tracked separately.
The contractor will also raise certain drop-inlets to ground level to allow pedestrian and vehicle traffic over them, reducing the need for temporary barriers. Council asked staff to collect formal quotes and coordinate a turnkey plan so sidewalk, lighting and court work can be completed in a coordinated fashion.
