Organizers praise Heritage Day but vendors and crowding expose logistics gaps

Chair opened the meeting and organizers reviewed Heritage Day logistics, praising volunteers and vendors for a smooth event despite some problems.

"It was the best one that we've ever had as far as no trouble and everything just kinda fall into place," said Brea Jones, who helped coordinate hospitality and thanked volunteers for making the event run smoothly. Organizers said several food vendors sold out early and that some vendors reported good sales overall.

Council members raised complaints about a late-arriving food vendor in a large red trailer with a loud generator that blocked merchandise vendors and interfered with sound, a concern several speakers attributed to a late arrival "about two hours late." Attendees also reported crowding that blocked access to trash cans and limited sight lines to the stage, with one resident saying people stood in front of the crowd for hours and blocked walkways.

In response, a council member proposed building a larger stage near the former baseball/softball court (the corner by the big pine tree) to provide better sight lines and a bigger fan area; others warned moving the stage could shift crowding rather than solve it. Council agreed to add the topic to unfinished business for further discussion and budgeting.
