Board tables decision on adding 20 feet to Grindstone tower after reviewing quote

Ken described options for the Grindstone site: the district could add the additional 20 feet now (quote $73,095.35) or defer and face higher costs later. "The additional 20 feet on that tower up there is can hold a lot of equipment... So this is just an option for us to look at and discuss," Ken said, adding that prior board decisions lowered the tower height previously to control costs.
Board members considered cost-sharing with future tenants (for example, Verizon) or purchasing steel now and storing it to reduce future escalation; Kent and others recommended tabling the matter and collecting more information and bids. The board agreed to table the Grindstone height and related communication-shelter items and to revisit them with committee recommendations.
