District operations staff reported a recent fiber outage on a shared link between Humboldt County, Eureka and the district that caused service interruptions; staff said Humboldt County’s provider has taken steps and the district repaired a failed transmitter and returned it to service.
"We had some fiber issues... the shared link there... Humboldt County reached out to their provider, and they hopefully got that fixed," the operations lead said. Staff described equipment damage at Grindstone likely related to a power surge and reported several transmitters were out of warranty; repairs were done in-house where feasible and replacement parts were ordered for other units.
At Lamoille Summit staff found a compressor leak and a likely failed pressure sensor that will require the unit to be taken out of service for repair or replacement; staff provided cost estimates and said a field-swap should limit outages to a short duration. The board discussed parts pricing and authorized planned repairs.
