Lincoln council votes to delay final budget action to Aug. 24 after hearing

The Lincoln City Council on Aug. 3 voted to close the budget public hearing and postpone formal adoption until Aug. 24.
Councilmember Beckius moved to close the hearing and delay action on items 8a–9a — the operating budget package and a set of fee and rate resolutions — until Aug. 24. The motion, seconded by Councilwoman Washington, passed in a 7–0 roll call. Chair Weber said closing the hearing would allow council members time to review testimony and staff to supply clarifications before the final vote.
The delay aligns with the state’s required public notice and waiting period for budgets. City staff earlier told the council that the resolutions and ordinances tied to the budget would be scheduled for the council meeting on Monday, Aug. 24, ahead of the new fiscal year beginning Sept. 1.
